Have you seen “Won’t You Be My Neighbor,” the new documentary about Mr. Fred Rogers? I caught a matinee last week and I was reminded just how much Mr. Rogers, his cardigan sweaters, the land of make-believe, and his subtle life lessons have affected me.
Over the next few weeks, I’d like to share with you some of the people, places, things, events, and art that have influenced my worldview and my approach to helping others. They’ll range from the spiritual to academic to personal and practical. I have a long list and the more I consider this idea, the longer it gets.
As part of the research I’m doing about people who help, I’d love to hear about your influences, too. So if you wish, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org to share your stories and maybe even set up a time to talk about your own role as a helper.
